: What are the differences between the Dakota generations?
Q:
What are the differences between the Dakota generations?
To date, there have been 3 generations of Dakotas.
- GenI: Dakota introduction through 1990.
The headlights are a
sealed-beam type. "DODGE" is stamped into the tailgate. These are code-named
"N-bodies".
- GenII: 1991 through 1996.
This generation was a slight body change
and in 1992 introduced the Magnum series of engines. The headlights have
removable bulbs. After 1992, the "DODGE" lettering on the tailgate is a
sticker, not stamped, and there is a third brakelight in the tailgate. Also
N-Bodies.
- GenIII: 1997 through present. In 1997 the Dakota was completely
redesigned. AN-Body.
