Q:
What mods work well for the 4.7L V8?

• Jet chip works well for me. Most will swear against it, but their experiences tend to be with the 5.2 and 5.9 motors. I think most people with a 4.7 have no problem with the Jet. If you have the budget you might want to look into a custom PCM flash from Mike Leach. I'll do that eventually, I just want to get all my other mods in place first.
• Headers are just coming out now from JBA.
• A throttle body from F&B (flowmetrics) is looking promising.

Seems a good bang for the buck mod (all $30 or so) is the IAT adjustor. I've no real experience yet (have one, goes on in a couple of weeks) but have seen quite a few posts on the 'net reporting positive experiences/performance gains.
