Are pre-magnum (A engine) head bolts the same as magnum head bolts?

No

V8 Magnum head bolts consist of 5 "long" (4 5/8") and 5 "short" (2") bolts per head. The A engine bolts (1964-1991) had 1 "long" bolt, 4 "medium" bolts, and 5 "short" bolts. Although the Magnum "long" bolts are the same as the single pre-magnum "long" bolt, all of the other bolts are different lengths - that single "long" bolt is the only common one.
